About

A Life Built in Rockland County

P.T. Thomas came to New York over 40 years ago with nothing but determination to make a better life for his family. He and his wife, Marykutty, raised their four children in Rockland, all of whom graduated from Ramapo High School and built successful careers of their own.

Mr. Thomas applied that same dedication to family and community to his professional life. He worked at the Rockland County Department of Social Services, where he was a dedicated public servant committed to strengthening Rockland by connecting families with the resources, support, and opportunities they needed to thrive. Mr. Thomas combined his Christian values of compassion and responsibility for others with his knowledge of the system to coordinate care for some of the most vulnerable members of our society: children and adults.

His commitment to public service did not stop at his work for Rockland County DSS. He served multiple roles in the Civil Service Employees Association union, including serving as the union president for the Rockland chapter for eight years. He fought hard for Rockland's employees to get better wages, better working conditions, and better futures for them and their families.

Driven by that same desire for public service, he spent 20 years on the Town of Ramapo Zoning Board of Appeals, where he worked to shape a community that was safe, fair, and built to serve Rockland. Along the way, he also served as President of the Rockland County CSEA for eight years, previously served as Treasurer, founded the Rockland India Heritage Association, which gave Rockland students the opportunity to visit and learn about India through a study abroad program, and co-founded the Alliance of South Asian Labor.

While doing all of the above, he built P.T. Thomas Inc. from the ground up into one of Rockland County's most trusted accounting firms, serving thousands of families for over four decades. He also worked as a supervisor with Rockland County Child Protective Services, holds a Master of Divinity from Drew University and a Master of Social Work from Fordham University, and is a Licensed Master Social Worker.

As President and CEO of P.T. Thomas Inc., he became an IRS Enrolled Agent, received IRS recognition for excellence in electronic filing, and has spent decades helping people from many backgrounds solve real problems with patience and care.

Mr. Thomas and his wife raised four children in Rockland, instilling in them, and in their 10 grandchildren, the same values that went on to define his life: hard work, fairness, and a responsibility to others. He carried those values into public service, whether fighting for fairer wages as union president, connecting vulnerable families with vital resources at the Department of Social Services, explaining the ever-changing tax rules to the community as an income tax preparer, or shaping the neighborhoods people called home on the zoning board. Mr. Thomas' life has been defined by a deep and unwavering commitment to serving people.

Now he is ready to bring that lifetime of fighting for his community to Albany, because the people of the 96th District deserve someone who has been fighting with them every step of the way. The people deserve P.T. Thomas.

Issues

How Rockland County Can Move Forward

These priorities are built around the day-to-day pressures Rockland County families talk about most: opportunity, fairness, affordability, respect, and a future young people can actually build here.

Economic Fairness and a Living Wage

Too many Rockland County families feel like the system rewards people who are already getting ahead while working residents fall further behind. P.T. Thomas wants a fairer economy, stronger wages, and a path to stability for ordinary families.

Better Opportunities for Children

Children in Rockland County should have better opportunities and stronger support from the people elected to lead. P.T. Thomas believes public policy should help children and families thrive, not leave them behind.

Keep Young People in Rockland

Young people should be able to build a future in Rockland County instead of feeling forced to leave. P.T. Thomas wants more local opportunity, stronger job pathways, and a county where the next generation can stay and grow.

Respect and Care for Seniors

Seniors should be treated with dignity and properly cared for. P.T. Thomas believes Rockland County must strengthen the services, protections, and support older residents rely on every day.

Confront Racism and Strengthen Unity

Rockland is proudly multi-ethnic and multicultural, but racism and division still exist and have to be addressed directly. P.T. Thomas wants leadership that respects every community and works to root out discrimination.

Lower Taxes and Rising Energy Costs

Families are being squeezed by property taxes that keep rising and energy bills that have become harder to manage. P.T. Thomas wants a more efficient government, better cost controls, and relief for residents carrying the burden.
